The new facility is designed to be in direct dialogue with the architectural heritage of the protected environment Kosančićev Venac with its position, form, and materialization, but also to symbolize a new urban center that will offer a wide variety of artistic events, manifestations, and international projects to the large audience. The form of the object recognizes its foundations in the archetype of the houses of Kosančićev Venac – elongated shape, gable roof. With its style, the project relies on modernism, by shifting open and closed spaces and composing flexible ambient, according to the gallery structure and its basic functions. Also, the architecture of the proposed solution aims to drag into the “other plan” so that visitors are primarily aware of the arts in the exhibition space. The concept of the 2 squares, the access square- partially covered, and the “lower square” at the level of the future walkway – as the extension of the public city spaces, together with the complete transparency of the museum interior on the lower floors towards river, constitute a quality “frame” content of the gallery in constant communication with the urban environment. Unlike these spaces, the exhibition-gallery space on the first floor and on the gallery was designed according to the principle of “black box, white cube”. That is the way in which the exhibits themselves come to the first plan, while the partial connection with the environment is achieved through an accentuated vertical glazing of the Rectorate building. In the same width is provided with high-quality zenith lighting, where the degree of illumination can be articulated. Communication through the object is accomplished by external and internal vertical links, supporting constructive dialogue, contact of architecture with the city, landscape, urban topics.
